Everywhere you go nowadays you see CBD being sold. It’s popularity has continued to grow steadily over the past few years. While I don’t want to get into any controversy about the legality of CBD I do want to do a little education on the system that it works with, the endocannabinoid system (ECB).

The ECB system helps to normalize the full body system.  It’s part of the defense system and helps establish homeostasis. There are two main receptors that work within the body. CB1 is mostly in the central nervous system while CB2 is mostly in different locations. And although CB2 receptors are distributed throughout the body, the greatest concentration is found throughout the immune system.

To break it down even more CB1 makes it so you don’t care if you have pain while CB2 actually blocks the signal. THC, the part that makes you feel ‘high’ affects the CB1 receptor. This is where most of the controversy comes from, because most of the CBD on the market comes from hemp or marijuana. However, there are about 70 known plants that have cannabinoids in them. Say what?!?!

One of these plants is called Copaiba. It’s a tree grown in the Amazon region. It doesn’t play with the CB1 receptor and focusses strictly on the CB2 receptor. Research has shown it helps with:

  1. Liver and antioxidant support
  2. Cardiovascular health
  3. Digestive support
  4. supporting proper neurological function
  5. proper respiratory function

We are talking about Copaiba in an essential oil form, which is different than CBD, which is an isolated compound. Copaiba in an essential oil form reduces pain and inflammation and protects cells. When combined with other essential oils like turmeric you can have great success without worrying about psychodelic effects.
